Questions to ask a photographer

1. Will you personally be the photographer for our wedding?
2. If the answer is no:
When can we meet the photographer who would be covering my event and can we see his work?
3. What kind of contingency plans do you have?
4. If you are talking to the photographer:
Are you a full-time photographer?
5. What do you do during the rest of the time?
6. Have you done any education in photography and are you member of any professional organisations? (Membership in organisations like PPA is a good way to keep up with current trends in the industry)
7. How much time do you take to deliver my prints/ show me proofs? (This is very important and many photographers take a long time to deliver the goods)
8. How many years of experience do you have/ how many events have you done?
9. Are you comfortable working with difficult clients?
10. Give me your strengths as a photographer?
11. Can you share some of your recent work with me?
12. Do you offer Black and White and other creative post processing?
13. What is your photographic style?
14. How many pictures do you take in a wedding?
15. Do you carry liability insurance? (Can be critical as some venues require this please clarify with your venue)
16. Why did you choose wedding photography as a career?
17. Is set up time included in the hours of coverage?
18. Is travel included in the package?
19. Do you bring backup equipment with you?
20. How many people will cover the event?
21. Do you provide a written contract and guarantee. Can we see it?
22. Is a deposit required? If so, how much?
23. When is the deposit due?
24. What is your payment policy?
25. What are the refunds/cancellation terms?
